The one-on-one appointment begins at 1:00 PM on Thursday, November 5, 2026, in the North Spokane meeting room. Anyone seeking a session with a trained SHIBA volunteer must register by phone at 509.777.1592. Participants should arrive with their Medicare card and a current prescription list so the counselor can examine relevant choices.

The review focuses on Part D and Medicare Advantage options for 2027. Because their prices and benefits may shift from one year to the next, the session is designed to help consumers research and weigh which selection fits their needs. Any plan changes must be filed during open enrollment, which runs from October 15 through December 7, 2026.

SHIBA, short for Statewide Health Insurance Benefits Advisors, is a volunteer network across the state that assists and advocates for Medicare consumers. Its counseling is free, impartial and private. Aging & Long Term Care of Eastern Washington sponsors SHIBA locally and provides Medicare education. For hearing assistance, ASL or another ADA accommodation at an in-person library event, contact comments@scld.org or 509.893.8200 at least five business days beforehand.
