Mead and University survived Saturday’s girls soccer district games. Mead beat Gonzaga Prep 2-0 at Union Stadium behind Rachel Groves’ goals in the 40th and 76th minutes. The fifth-seeded Panthers, now 10-4-4, eliminated the third-seeded Bullpups, who finished 10-2-4. Mead plays sixth-seeded Richland Tuesday. University edged Central Valley 3-2 after Addison Cox scored twice, including the deciding goal in the 34th minute. The sixth-seeded Titans eliminated the eighth-seeded Bears and host third-seeded Kennewick Tuesday at 5 p.m.

Deer Park and East Valley also moved forward in 2A soccer. Ava Reed’s 68th-minute goal gave fourth-seeded Deer Park a 2-1 win over North Central; the Stags meet top-seeded West Valley in Tuesday’s semifinal. East Valley blanked Clarkston 1-0 at Ridgeline High and will play second-seeded Pullman in the other semifinal. In the league title match at Whitworth University’s Pine Bowl, Lakeside defeated Colville 3-2 after Emmerson Cummings settled a seven-round shootout. The Eagles reached 13-4 and qualified for the District 5/6 crossover Nov. 7.

Lakeside also took the district volleyball championship, sweeping Medical Lake 3-0. That sends the 14-3 Eagles to the Nov. 7 District 5/6 crossover. Medical Lake beat Colville 3-1 in the second-place match, while Colville had earlier eliminated Riverside in five sets. In another volleyball play-in, Colfax defeated Davenport 3-2; Holly Robinson recorded 30 kills and Claire VanTine 53 assists. Colfax faces Reardan Tuesday.
